About the Open Call

Sony and Kiekie invite photographers from all backgrounds to submit their strongest single image and become part of one of the most inspiring photography communities in the Netherlands.

Selected works will be printed and exhibited during Sony Alpha Day 2025, where they’ll be seen by an audience of over 700 visitors, including fellow photographers, industry leaders, and editors and journalists from leading magazines.

It’s a chance to put your work in front of the people who scout for new talent, publish fresh stories, and shape the future of photography.

You may submit one photo in one of the following categories:

  • Portrait Photography

  • Travel Photography

  • Street Photography

  • Wildlife Photography

  • Landscape Photography

  • Concept Photography

  • Student Photography (open to enrolled students in any photography or visual arts program)

Submission Requirements

  • Open to everyone aged 18+ worldwide.

  • Each participant may submit one photo. (no series)

  • The image must fit one of the six categories listed above (or the entrant must qualify as a student photographer).

  • The photo must have been taken on or after 1 January 2023.

  • The image must be shot with a Sony camera and Sony lens.

  • After winners are selected, they will be asked to provide the RAW file or original file of their image (for verification and printing purposes).

  • Images will be checked for AI usage (not permitted unless clearly disclosed).

  • Wildlife submissions will be screened to ensure animals were photographed in ethical and natural circumstances.

  • File format: JPEG (.jpg) or PNG (.png)

  • Color profile: sRGB

  • Resolution: Minimum 3000 px on the longest side

  • Maximum file size: 10 MB per photo

  • File name: Firstname_Lastname_Category_Title.jpg
    (for example: “Linda_Janssen_Wildlife_DesertLion.jpg”)

Prizes & Exhibition

Per category, a shortlist of 4 works will be selected (28 works in total).

These shortlisted works will be exhibited in print at Alpha Day 2025 Nov 30th (expected attendance: approximately 700 visitors).

Shortlisters will receive a free ticket to Alpha Day and their print after the event.

From the shortlisted works, one overall winner will be chosen, and this winner will be announced live during Alpha Day.

The overall winner will receive a €1,500 Sony Store voucher, which can be used in a single transaction to purchase Sony products of their choice.

Jury

Denise Woerdman – Founder & Owner of Kiekie Fotolab, Kiekie Tabloid, Art Business, and Women in Art.

Ian Lopez, Mathilda Ekman, and Jaimy de Hon – Sony colleagues with extensive technical and practical expertise in photography.

The competition is organized in collaboration between Sony and Kiekie.
